World Outside
Not to generalize but humans are naturally stubborn. In other words, most prefer to stay the way they are and if a friend comes up to them and say "Dude, having sex with your girlfriend is HARAM!" or "Don't you know wearing hijab is a MUST?". What would you say? You would either accept the positive criticism or choose to ignore the person.
The fact that matter is most people need ---life turning events--- to clean their act and start living life as a TRUE muslim. Have you ever heard of a story of someone changed because they had a "dream". The common dream would be the person surrounded by fire and people crying in agony, people being tortured and they were witnessing it all. When these people woke up, they would ponder for a second and say, "Man...what does this mean?" Is Allah trying to show me something? Like duh!
Maybe we all need a really tragic incident. A death in the family, or maybe witnessing a suicidal event or maybe losing a toe. That oughta do the trick. But do we really need all the signs to change and mend our ways? Frankly writing, all the things that are happening around us whether it be small or big events ARE SIGNS. A mosquito bite, fighting seagulls, squirrels eating pine cones greedily are some of the signs we can learn from. Think about it!
We are living in a material world where having materials derived from metal, plastic and wood are seen as the priority in life. This what separates us from ourselves and islam. The things we have makes us forget who we really were in the beginning and WHO created us initially.
Lets think for a sec. Does anyone of you remember how your life was inside your mother's womb? I didn't think so. BUT, I'm very sure some of you have seen your MALE family members, relatives and friends talk to the wife's growing belly. They'd say such things as "When you come out, I'm gonna name you Elly" or "When you come out, I'll take you to Dizzyland" or "When you grow up, I'll make sure you marry someone rich and handsome" or "You can drink orange squash that tastes sooo good that it hurts your feet" or whatever.
What do you think the baby would say? A baby who is surrounded by layers of skin and only being fed with blood and only blood. At most points, the baby would probably say something like..
"Where is that voice coming from?
"Am I going crazy?"
"I'm hearing these voices but can't see who the person is?"
"What is orange squash?"
"Maybe, I'm just hearing voices.."
The above situation shows how the baby is so used to living in the mother's womb that the cute baby just does not believe that there is such a place called earth..Let's get back to reality now. Imagine this earth we live in is like the mother's womb and there are people who keeps telling you that there is world after earth, would you believe it? That the world after earth offers alcoholic drinks which keeps you sober, spouses who are like drops of pearls and everyone greets "salam" to one another.
The baby would only believe when he/she is pops out off her mother's productive system and for those who doesn't clean their act on earth AS SOON AS POSSIBLE will only believe when their body lies six feet under surrounded by insects while their soul gets a "lil'" taste of torment as she/he begs for the angels to stop. Definitely not a slap on the wrist. Ouch!
