Hercules or Hercalius on Islam

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas:

Abu Sufyan bin Harb informed me that Heraclius had sent a messenger to him while he had been accompanying a caravan from Quraish. They were merchants doing business in Sham (Syria, Palestine, Lebanon and Jordan), at the time when Allah's Apostle had truce with Abu Sufyan and Quraish infidels. So Abu Sufyan and his companions went to Heraclius at Ilya (Jerusalem). Heraclius called them in the court and he had all the senior Roman dignitaries around him. He called for his translator who, translating Heraclius's question said to them, "Who amongst you is closely related to that man who claims to be a Prophet?" Abu Sufyan replied, "I am the nearest relative to him (amongst the group)."

Heraclius said, "Bring him (Abu Sufyan) close to me and make his companions stand behind him." Abu Sufyan added, Heraclius told his translator to tell my companions that he wanted to put some questions to me regarding that man (The Prophet) and that if I told a lie they (my companions) should contradict me." Abu Sufyan added, "By Allah! Had I not been afraid of my companions labeling me a liar, I would not have spoken the truth about the Prophet. The first question he asked me about him was:

'What is his family status amongst you?'

I replied, 'He belongs to a good (noble) family amongst us.'

Heraclius further asked, 'Has anybody amongst you ever claimed the same (i.e. to be a Prophet) before him?'

I replied, 'No.'

He said, 'Was anybody amongst his ancestors a king?'

I replied, 'No.'

Heraclius asked, 'Do the nobles or the poor follow him?'

I replied, 'It is the poor who follow him.'

He said, 'Are his followers increasing decreasing (day by day)?'

I replied, 'They are increasing.'

He then asked, 'Does anybody amongst those who embrace his religion become displeased and renounce the religion afterwards?'

I replied, 'No.'

Heraclius said, 'Have you ever accused him of telling lies before his claim (to be a Prophet)?'

I replied, 'No. '

Heraclius said, 'Does he break his promises?'

I replied, 'No. We are at truce with him but we do not know what he will do in it.' I could not find opportunity to say anything against him except that.

Heraclius asked, 'Have you ever had a war with him?'

I replied, 'Yes.'

Then he said, 'What was the outcome of the battles?'

I replied, 'Sometimes he was victorious and sometimes we.'

Heraclius said, 'What does he order you to do?'

I said, 'He tells us to worship Allah and Allah alone and not to worship anything along with Him, and to renounce all that our ancestors had said. He orders us to pray, to speak the truth, to be chaste and to keep good relations with our Kith and kin.'

Heraclius asked the translator to convey to me the following, I asked you about his family and your reply was that he belonged to a very noble family. In fact all the Apostles come from noble families amongst their respective peoples. I questioned you whether anybody else amongst you claimed such a thing, your reply was in the negative. If the answer had been in the affirmative, I would have thought that this man was following the previous man's statement. Then I asked you whether anyone of his ancestors was a king. Your reply was in the negative, and if it had been in the affirmative, I would have thought that this man wanted to take back his ancestral kingdom.

I further asked whether he was ever accused of telling lies before he said what he said, and your reply was in the negative. So I wondered how a person who does not tell a lie about others could ever tell a lie about Allah. I, then asked you whether the rich people followed him or the poor. You replied that it was the poor who followed him. And in fact all the Apostle have been followed by this very class of people. Then I asked you whether his followers were increasing or decreasing. You replied that they were increasing, and in fact this is the way of true faith, till it is complete in all respects. I further asked you whether there was anybody, who, after embracing his religion, became displeased and discarded his religion. Your reply was in the negative, and in fact this is (the sign of) true faith, when its delight enters the hearts and mixes with them completely. I asked you whether he had ever betrayed. You replied in the negative and likewise the Apostles never betray. Then I asked you what he ordered you to do. You replied that he ordered you to worship Allah and Allah alone and not to worship any thing along with Him and forbade you to worship idols and ordered you to pray, to speak the truth and to be chaste. If what you have said is true, he will very soon occupy this place underneath my feet and I knew it (from the scriptures) that he was going to appear but I did not know that he would be from you, and if I could reach him definitely, I would go immediately to meet him and if I were with him, I would certainly wash his feet.'

Heraclius then asked for the letter addressed by Allah's Apostle which was delivered by Dihya to the Governor of Busra, who forwarded it to Heraclius to read. The contents of the letter were as follows: "In the name of Allah the Beneficent, the Merciful (This letter is) from Muhammad the slave of Allah and His Apostle to Heraclius the ruler of Byzantine. Peace be upon him, who follows the right path. Furthermore I invite you to Islam, and if you become a Muslim you will be safe, and Allah will double your reward, and if you reject this invitation of Islam you will be committing a sin by misguiding your Arisiyin (peasants). (And I recite to you Allah's Statement:)

'O people of the scripture! Come to a word common to you and us that we worship none but Allah and that we associate nothing in worship with Him, and that none of us shall take others as Lords beside Allah. Then, if they turn away, say: Bear witness that we are Muslims (those who have surrendered to Allah).' (3:64).

Abu Sufyan then added, "When Heraclius had finished his speech and had read the letter, there was a great hue and cry in the Royal Court. So we were turned out of the court. I told my companions that the question of Ibn-Abi-Kabsha) (the Prophet Muhammad) has become so prominent that even the King of Bani Al-Asfar (Byzantine) is afraid of him. Then I started to become sure that he (the Prophet) would be the conqueror in the near future till I embraced Islam (i.e. Allah guided me to it)."

The sub narrator adds, "Ibn An-Natur was the Governor of llya' (Jerusalem) and Heraclius was the head of the Christians of Sham. Ibn An-Natur narrates that once while Heraclius was visiting ilya' (Jerusalem), he got up in the morning with a sad mood. Some of his priests asked him why he was in that mood? Heraclius was a foreteller and an astrologer. He replied, 'At night when I looked at the stars, I saw that the leader of those who practice circumcision had appeared (become the conqueror). Who are they who practice circumcision?' The people replied, 'Except the Jews nobody practices circumcision, so you should not be afraid of them (Jews).

'Just Issue orders to kill every Jew present in the country.'

While they were discussing it, a messenger sent by the king of Ghassan to convey the news of Allah's Apostle to Heraclius was brought in. Having heard the news, he (Heraclius) ordered the people to go and see whether the messenger of Ghassan was circumcised. The people, after seeing him, told Heraclius that he was circumcised. Heraclius then asked him about the Arabs. The messenger replied, 'Arabs also practice circumcision.'

(After hearing that) Heraclius remarked that sovereignty of the 'Arabs had appeared. Heraclius then wrote a letter to his friend in Rome who was as good as Heraclius in knowledge. Heraclius then left for Homs. (a town in Syrian and stayed there till he received the reply of his letter from his friend who agreed with him in his opinion about the emergence of the Prophet and the fact that he was a Prophet. On that Heraclius invited all the heads of the Byzantines to assemble in his palace at Homs. When they assembled, he ordered that all the doors of his palace be closed. Then he came out and said, 'O Byzantines! If success is your desire and if you seek right guidance and want your empire to remain then give a pledge of allegiance to this Prophet (i.e. embrace Islam).'

(On hearing the views of Heraclius) the people ran towards the gates of the palace like onagers but found the doors closed. Heraclius realized their hatred towards Islam and when he lost the hope of their embracing Islam, he ordered that they should be brought back in audience.

(When they returned) he said, 'What already said was just to test the strength of your conviction and I have seen it.' The people prostrated before him and became pleased with him, and this was the end of Heraclius's story (in connection with his faith).

Ouch!

If you think you’re having a bad day, wait till you die. You’ll have the worse time EVER. It all actually depends on how you live your life on earth. One thing is certain; it won’t be like a rollercoaster or a pony ride and you and I WILL die one day.

Dying in front of a cameraman or watching some actor playing dead is easy money but have you really thought about the actual process of dying? I do, sometimes…Most of us aren’t scared of dying or death because we usually think that we still have plenty of time to kill. Ironic is it not?

Most people kill their time by talking RUBBISH, talking about other people, talking about people’s spouses / relative / people they know and don’t know, wealth they wish they had, which stores are having grand sales, what happened yesterday or what’s going to happen tomorrow, what they had for dinner / lunch / supper / breakfast, what they did during summer and the list continues. P2P (People 2 people) . Observe from now on.

Have you ever heard of somebody talking about how eerie someone’s death was? A dead on collision, body halved, eyes popped out, died without clothes on (while having illegal sex), hung over a tree, limbs lying here and there and so on. The point is, have you ever imagine how you death will be? Maybe you’ve imagined yourself being run over by a moving truck or maybe drowning in a pool of shame surrounded by swines.

Whatever it is, its TIME to think about death coz if death is always on your mind, the chances of you stealing, raping someone, killing, drinking alcohol and so on would be unlikely. I once heard someone said, “Death is the best teacher”. Would you actually pay someone to remind you about death every second of the day? I didn’t think so. You can’t even afford to get a complete set of Tafseer by Ibn Katseer. Such pity.

Our beloved prophet Muhammad once said, “the smartest amongst you are those who prepares for their death...” (Narrated by Ath Thabrani). Masya Allah, such a good hadeeth for us to reflect upon. On a another hadeeth, “Abundantly remember the destroyer of pleasures (meaning death) (Narrated by An Nasaa’i).

Finally, Al Hasan, may Allaah have mercy on him, said: “Death has exposed the reality of life and left no reason for one with a sound mind to be happy in it." Yunus Ibn ‘Ubayd said: "The remembrance of death deprived us from enjoying our families and wealth." Also, Mutarrif said: "Death spoils for the people of pleasure, their enjoyment. So look for pleasure in which there is no death. The people of Paradise do not die, so their lives will become comfortable, and they do not become sick, so they live a pleasant, eternal life.”

If you’re smart, think. If not, then you’re opposite smart, just like the bird image on display.

Barakallah.

Riadah

Dengan nama Allah yang Maha Pemurah Lagi Maha Penyayang. Wahai manusia! Agunglah TuhanMu bagaimanapun keadaanmu.

Allah, Yang Maha Maha Tinggi/Mulia.

Barakallah.

Doa Semasa Rasulullah dianiaya..

Yell ow!

Do people really shout when they see a ghost? The answer is no. Why? Here's why. Have you ever felt that your body is being "squashed" by an unseen being? During those times, you may or may not saw a black figure dangling over your body and as much as you wanted to, you can never scream at the top of lung. You can try shouting but trust me, nothing comes out.

Does it matter? It does coz the so called ghost movies we've seen often showed people shouting when they see foreign objects and stuff like that but in fact, when real ghosts show you can't have a go. So if you think you've yelled when you saw a ghost, please let me know so that people know that it can be done.

Pak/Mak Turut

Kita lihat saja sekeliling kita, manusia backbite each other.

Happy Halloween!? Jgn jadi orang bodoh!

We HAVE To Change Out Outlook

The national leaders, administrative and political decision makers in
Muslim countries should do the following to serve Islam effectively:

ECONOMIC INDEPENDENCE

1. Devise economically independent nationalism. Stop imitating other nations or other ideologies no matterhow attractive they are. Neither capitalism nor communism has served humanity adequately.

IMPORTANCE TO EDUCATION

2. Give utmost importance to education and research and at every level of education, right from Kindergarten to Ph.D level, blend Islamic education with secular education. Do not compartmentalize education into Islamic and secular. The problem with us is that we are producing academic scholars who later on in life throw Islamic values to the winds. Let us produce Hafizes who are at the same time engineers or architects or other specialists.

INDEPENDENT MONETARY SYSTEM

3. We have to do deep research on banking and investment and international monetary system. We can not rely on non-Muslim banking and monetary systems to do foreign trade, investments and foreign exchange savings. We got to train Muslims to be extraordinary specialists in monetary economics and devise an Islam based international monetary system which can help us reduce the sort of recession under which the present world goes through due to our reliance of West based monetary system.

ECONOMIC AID TO THE POOR NATIONS

4. Muslim countries that are rich due to their oil reserves must find ways and means to invest their extraordinary foreign reserves, in other poorer Mulsim countries like Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Egypt and very many African and Central Asian countries. We can help these poorer countries to develop their potential and soon fully alleviate their poverty. This is the spirit of Zakah.

ESTABLISHING UNIVERSITIES.

5. Muslim countries that are rich must invest billions of dollars in poorer countries as given in 4 above, in building huge universities, higher institutes of learning and research institutes and large well equipped hospitals. This can be done partly on charity and partly on commercial basis.

DEVELOPING MANUFACTURING INDUSTRIES

6. Many Muslim countries depend on foreign trade even for simple consumer goods that they are capable of learning to make, simply because they are lazy and lack motivation. They import pens, pencils, paper, sweets, foot-wear, cooking utensils, powdered spices, dressing materials, bicycles, toys, furniture etc etc. They got to set up industries where these things can be locally made using either the local raw materials or imported ones, to start with at higher costs than the imported ones.

But these import substitute industries are important in order, first to learn to manufacture and eventually become skillful. A strong manufacturing base is important in order to slowly develop heavy industries and arms and weapons manufacturing. We can never meet the expectations of the protagonists of the so called clash of civilizations unless we change our business attitudes.

BALANCING INCOMES AND SAVINGS

7. In many Muslim countries people’s propensity to consume is much greater than their propensity to save. Salaried employees earning as much as US$3000- 10,000 a month, spend a lot on luxury items, owning several cars, exorbitant life style and building palatial houses. They seem to give greater priority to showing off their wealth rather than giving priority to their children’s education. Moreover, they lack
corporate thinking or savings in order in order to invest in capital appreciating assets or forming large public companies.

IMPORTANCE TO AKHLAK

8. Rukun Islam is vital but at the same time we have to understand the spirit behind the rituals. Discipline during the time of fasting alone is not important. We got to maintain that discipline and implement Islam based Akhlak and if necessary borrow other good behaviour patterns from other cultures, such as honesty, keeping up promises, paying the wages of workers adequately and on time, punctuality, dignity of labour, the organizational and administrative systems and capabilities of the West, their enquiring spirit, their attitude towards research, their adventurism and above all Islam based mercy and social justice.

STOP THE IMPORT OF WESTERN CULTURE IN TOTO

9. We got to stop copying all aspects of western culture, their dress, their music, their cinemas and movies, their interpretation of history and politics, their architecture, their methods of matrimonial relations, their family, civil and criminal laws in Toto, their philosophy and their freedom of expression. But absolutely nothing wrong in borrowing some of their good characteristics as I have
mentioned in 8 above if they can sharpen our intelligence and improve our efficiency, productivity and honesty in our dealings. We are fast in copying all the bad aspects of western culture but very slow in copying the good aspects.

World Outside

Not to generalize but humans are naturally stubborn. In other words, most prefer to stay the way they are and if a friend comes up to them and say "Dude, having sex with your girlfriend is HARAM!" or "Don't you know wearing hijab is a MUST?". What would you say? You would either accept the positive criticism or choose to ignore the person.

The fact that matter is most people need ---life turning events--- to clean their act and start living life as a TRUE muslim. Have you ever heard of a story of someone changed because they had a "dream". The common dream would be the person surrounded by fire and people crying in agony, people being tortured and they were witnessing it all. When these people woke up, they would ponder for a second and say, "Man...what does this mean?" Is Allah trying to show me something? Like duh!

Maybe we all need a really tragic incident. A death in the family, or maybe witnessing a suicidal event or maybe losing a toe. That oughta do the trick. But do we really need all the signs to change and mend our ways? Frankly writing, all the things that are happening around us whether it be small or big events ARE SIGNS. A mosquito bite, fighting seagulls, squirrels eating pine cones greedily are some of the signs we can learn from. Think about it!

We are living in a material world where having materials derived from metal, plastic and wood are seen as the priority in life. This what separates us from ourselves and islam. The things we have makes us forget who we really were in the beginning and WHO created us initially.

Lets think for a sec. Does anyone of you remember how your life was inside your mother's womb? I didn't think so. BUT, I'm very sure some of you have seen your MALE family members, relatives and friends talk to the wife's growing belly. They'd say such things as "When you come out, I'm gonna name you Elly" or "When you come out, I'll take you to Dizzyland" or "When you grow up, I'll make sure you marry someone rich and handsome" or "You can drink orange squash that tastes sooo good that it hurts your feet" or whatever.

What do you think the baby would say? A baby who is surrounded by layers of skin and only being fed with blood and only blood. At most points, the baby would probably say something like..

"Where is that voice coming from?
"Am I going crazy?"
"I'm hearing these voices but can't see who the person is?"
"What is orange squash?"
"Maybe, I'm just hearing voices.."

The above situation shows how the baby is so used to living in the mother's womb that the cute baby just does not believe that there is such a place called earth..Let's get back to reality now. Imagine this earth we live in is like the mother's womb and there are people who keeps telling you that there is world after earth, would you believe it? That the world after earth offers alcoholic drinks which keeps you sober, spouses who are like drops of pearls and everyone greets "salam" to one another.

The baby would only believe when he/she is pops out off her mother's productive system and for those who doesn't clean their act on earth AS SOON AS POSSIBLE will only believe when their body lies six feet under surrounded by insects while their soul gets a "lil'" taste of torment as she/he begs for the angels to stop. Definitely not a slap on the wrist. Ouch!

Menjawab salam orang bukan islam

Sesungguhnya Allah memperhitungkan segala sesuatu." (Surat 4. AN NISAA' - Ayat 86)

Does God Exist?

Taken from a Biographical Sketch of Imam Shafi’i

Imam Al-Shafi’i was in Baghdad. A man came to him and asked him the following three questions before he considered believing in the existence Of One True Almighty God.

Question 1. If I am to believe in the existence of God, I must see HIM. Can I see your God?

Question 2. You say God is the cause of all acts and you say that not an atom moves without his knowledge. Is it proper for God to punish me for my wrongs?

Question 3. According to you, God would throw Iblis into hell fire. Can the hell fire pain Iblis who was created of fire?

Words were inadequate to convince this fool; hence Imam Al-Shafi’i used more convincing methods.

He picked up a stone and threw it at the man, causing him to bleed. The man complained to the Judge who summoned al-Shafi’i.

Al-Shafi’i explained to the judge that his act of throwing the stone and injuring him gave the answers to the man’s questions.

ANSWERS:

QN: 1 If the man could not believe in God without seeing Him, he could not have suffered PAIN WITHOUT SEEING PAIN. Ask him whether he saw PAIN.

QN: 2 If God is the cause of ALL ACTS, my act of throwing the stone was also the act of God. So why should I be charged for hurting the man?

QN: 3 Man was originally made of clay. The stone that hit him was also made of clay. How is it possible for the clay to hurt the one made of clay?
